Country Singer Conner Smith Involved in Fatal Accident in Nashville

June 9, 2025 – Nashville, TN

Country music artist Conner Smith is under investigation following a tragic traffic accident that claimed the life of a 77-year-old woman in downtown Nashville.

The incident occurred on the evening of June 8 around 7:30 PM, when Smith, 24, was driving a Chevy Silverado that struck Dorothy Dobbins as she was walking in a marked crosswalk on 3rd Avenue North. Emergency services transported Dobbins to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

According to law enforcement, Smith was not impaired and showed no signs of distraction at the time of the collision. The preliminary cause appears to be a failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed, but the investigation remains ongoing.

Smith’s attorney issued the following statement to TMZ:

“On June 8th, Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life. His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins’ family during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.”

The incident comes just days after Smith performed at CMA Fest, a major annual country music event in Nashville. Known for hits like “Creek Will Rise” and “I Hate Alabama”, Smith has built a following for his heartfelt songwriting and Southern roots.

Fans and fellow artists have expressed condolences online for both Dobbins’ family and the difficult situation facing Smith.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
