After a dominant junior-college career, Jimmy Dionne is continuing his rise in college baseball with Purdue Boilermakers baseball in the Big Ten Conference.
Originally from Quebec City, Quebec, Dionne built his reputation as a powerful left-handed hitter long before arriving at Purdue. The 6-foot-4 slugger first made his mark in the United States while playing for Howard College Hawks baseball in Big Spring, Texas, where he produced one of the best offensive seasons in junior-college baseball.
During his final season at Howard College, Dionne hit .404 with 78 hits, 22 home runs, and 79 RBIs in 52 games. His combination of power and consistency helped him earn NJCAA All-American honors and made him one of the most sought-after junior-college hitters in the country.
That breakout season helped open the door to Division I baseball at Purdue, where Dionne now faces some of the toughest competition in college baseball. Early in his time with the Boilermakers, he has already shown the same power that made him successful in Texas.
In a recent matchup against Oregon Ducks baseball, Dionne delivered one of the biggest swings of the game, launching a three-run home run that traveled 369 feet. The ball left his bat at 105 mph with a 25-degree launch angle, a clear example of the kind of power that makes him a dangerous hitter in the middle of Purdue’s lineup.

From a standout season in Big Spring to producing big swings in the Big Ten, Dionne’s journey through college baseball continues to show his ability to perform at every level. As he keeps building his career at Purdue, the same power that made him a JUCO star is beginning to make an impact on a much bigger stage. ⚾
